I AM CONVINCED | Lydia Herron
Have you ever gotten into a fiery discussion with a friend because they are trying to tell you something but you are certain that they are wrong?
In Chapters 20-22, we see Paul doing this very thing but on a much larger scale. He is on his third ministry journey throughout Asia, Greece, and Israel. He is convinced that he needs to go back to Jerusalem and his friends — people who Paul has taught and lived with for the last 3 years — are trying to convince him otherwise.
Paul is facing some pretty heavy stuff upon his arrival in Jerusalem: imprisonment, beatings, the list goes on. However, Paul is dead-set on going.
Have a read of Chapters 21- 22, and you’ll find out why. Paul has taken stock of all that it will cost him to go back to Jerusalem, and this cost is high, but he is committed to going back.
As I read these chapters, I am completely blown away by Paul’s conviction and faith, which drive him to keep going, even while facing incredible hardship and the loss of his freedom.
Paul was determined to finish his race and to bring the Good News back to his people (the Jews), even though they wanted nothing to do with him.
These chapters made me reflect on my beliefs and the convictions that drive my daily decisions.
Upon reflection, I came away with this: like Paul, I endeavour to run my race and keep the faith, knowing that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and the job I have been entrusted with is to make Him known.
And now, as you read over these chapters, I put forth the question to you: what are you convinced of?
How do your convictions and beliefs influence your daily decisions?
My friends, continue to ‘turn to the Lord in repentance and have faith in the Lord Jesus’, continue to get to know Him, I can say for a fact it is one of the best decisions you will ever make.
