JESUS IS BETTER THAN KFC | Nathan White

Don’t you just love junk-food? I LOVE junk-food. There are few things I love more than KFC, I honestly think it is one of God’s many amazing gifts to humanity (and is also by far the best fast-food store). Although, no matter how much I love KFC, I will never be able to deny the fact that it is terrible for me. 

One of the things I love more than KFC is, soccer. I like to consider myself a fairly decent soccer player, maybe even somewhat of an athlete. However, I know that if I want to be an athlete, I MUST live like an athlete. I have to; eat healthy, sleep well, train-hard, etc. My love and desire to play soccer must drive the way that I live – not my love for KFC. If I allow my love for KFC to drive the way I live, my athletic abilities will decrease! 

I find that this example is so similar to the message Paul is trying to exclaim in Ephesians 5. In Ephesians 5:1-2 Paul writes –

‘Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love…’ –

He continues to list an extensive number of ways that we should not live! Sounds intense right? 

Paul warns us to not even become partners with these poor behaviours. If we start filling our life with these things (sex, drugs, swearing, violence, alcohol, etc), they will soon begin to dictate the course of our life. In the same way that my desire to play soccer must outweigh my desire to eat KFC, so must my desire and love for Jesus surpass my desire to live for anything or anyone else! 

Paul reminds us; if we want to live for Jesus, we must live like Jesus! To live like Jesus, we must begin by knowing Him! There is no greater way to live!

HOW DO I BEGIN TO KNOW JESUS?

I would love to encourage you to ask Jesus to speak to you. Take 3 minutes, find a quiet place and ask ‘Jesus, would you speak to me? I am listening.’

Jesus ADORES YOU! He wants to know you, He died for you and He wants to show you how to live!
