PHAROAH HAD A DREAM | Daniel Knight

What a moment for Joseph to shine. The Pharaoh at the time was this incredible dream, skinny cows eating fat ones, heads of grain and corn destroying each other. The pharaoh wakes in the middle of the night and demands an answer, this is surely important, nothing else matters. Then the man that Pharaoh would trust the most, the cup bearer, someone who hands the Pharaoh his drink, testing it for poison finally speaks up. I imagine it went like this:

Pharaoh: I have had this crazy dream, cows eating each other, and grain destroying each other… What does it mean?

Cup Bearer: Yeah, so I know a guy, he is in jail, has been for a bit, one of your advisors sent him there, so far, he has been spot on. You know that baker you killed cause his sweet rolls weren’t great, yeah, well, he knew that from his dream. Just like how you brought me back. Give him a go, it might work out.

Pharaoh called up Joseph, and everything is on the line.

This is it, the big moment. Joseph delivers, answering the riddle, and showing the Pharaoh that there is famine on the way, but if they play there cards right, the answer will come through.

What happens in those 14 years is so important, it not only saved Egypt from starvation, but also provides a way for God to reunite the sons of Jacob and sets in motion the events leading up to the formation of Israel in the ancient era.

The key person is Joseph, he saves everything, but I’m sure for the 2 or more years he spent in the jail cell, he often had no hope.

I’m sure at times it felt like the God of his father, and those before had forgotten about him again.

Had Joseph not been waiting there, waiting out what might happen to him, Pharaoh would never have had the answers he needed, and neither would he have had the person needed for the job.
