If Jesus had an Instagram account, would you follow Him? Imagine that, it would be so cool! It would be filled with travel photos, preaching shots, so many great hashtags #prayingwithmyDad #walkingonwater #healedthisguy #PeterTheRock #ridingadonkey #layingdownmylifeforyoutoday.

Reading your Bible is like following Jesus on Insta; you get to watch His life, see who He hangs out with, check out all the people He impacts along the way and get to know Him. I love Jesus with all my heart, I love getting to know Him as I read His life stories in the Bible. I love imagining walking with Him and seeing all He did—for real! I love His compassion, His love for people, and reading that He was the ultimate hero that saved the world by sacrificing Himself for us.

Jesus’ Insta account begins before He was born; it begins with His family, with His Aunty Elizabeth and Uncle Zechariah and His cousin John. It begins with angels, lots of angels, telling people what God is about to do. How cool would that be having a selfie with an angel? Imagine Zechariah’s hashtags #chattinwithGabe #canttalknow! Or Mary, #havingababy #howamIgoingtotellJoseph! Or the shepherds, #freakinout #angelencounters.

When you read the Bible, don’t forget these are real people, they are not fictional characters, these things actually happened. As you read the first two chapters of Luke, imagine being each person. Imagine freaking out like Zechariah because an angel has dropped into your work, or imagine being Mary, a beautiful, faithful, religious girl that did everything right by her faith, her family and her fiancé, now pregnant. How is she going to tell her family? I would be begging the angel to go with me and tell everyone what is happening, to prove I am telling the truth. But no, we don’t get to see the conversations that she had to have with her family, with Joseph when she told him she was pregnant and it was God! Imagine the shepherds just hanging out in the field and then bam! an angel appears, scares the life out of them and then tells them that a Saviour had been born and then Heaven’s choir appears and starts singing! I mean, what a night! That would change your life forever. That is what these stories are about, they are real, they actually happened and as you read them, write in your Bible how you would feel if that was you. 

Today, read Luke 1 - 3 and #followJesus right from the beginning of His life. Fall in love with the man that didn’t need a surfboard to surf, better than any doctor, preached better than anyone, didn’t need to visit Baker’s Delight, and was the first superhero that came to save the world from evil!
