ARE YOU THE ONE? | Katie Hornburg
As you are going to read Chapter 16 & 17, you’ll witness how Jesus heals ten men with leprosy. Leprosy was an unattractive skin disease and people afflicted were not accepted in the society back in Jesus’ time. These guys would have been the outcast, definitely not the cool kids.
Jesus comes along and tells them to go to the priest and as they went, they got healed, #bestdayever! But you’ll read that only one out of the ten came back to thank Jesus for his healing.
In the Old Testament, Psalm 100:4 says, ‘Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name’. When I pray, I start by thanking Jesus for the things He has given me, for what He has done, is doing and is going to do in my life.
There are some days I really do not feel like thanking Him. Maybe because I’m worried, upset or just tired and it seems much more convenient to circle around my problem. But when you start thanking Jesus, you will notice how things shift because you stop glorifying your problem and start glorifying God above the problem.
So the next time you pray, which is nothing more than having a chat with Jesus, start by thanking Him for the things He has given you and what He has done for you. If you think you have nothing to thank Him for, start with the breath in your lungs and the heartbeat in your chest. Be the one who runs to Jesus to say thank You!
